My academic and research interests are related to RN to BS education. As a hospital-based diploma-educated nurse, who returned to school for a baccalaureate degree in nursing, I understand the issues of going back to school. The research that I conducted leads me to believe that nurses come back to school in order to advance their career; however, they remain in school and complete their education because they want to fulfill a personal goal of attaining a degree.

At Villa Julie, we know that diploma and associate degree nurses are good nurses. Rather than teaching RNs how to be nurses, we focus on helping students continue their education. We believe that education is transformative; consequently, through advanced education, nurses' practice will be changed.
